Health and Safety Policy

Health & Safety Policy Statement

The Health and Safety policy can only be successful if all employees adopt a responsible and positive approach to Health and Safety issues within their work environment, and closely following all safety recommendations.

The Directors of Allied Security Services Limited accept Health, Safety and Welfare at work as their responsibility and believe it to be of equal importance to any other aspect of efficient modern management.

It is the intention of the Company to fulfil its statutory obligations and approved codes of practice, and to do all within its power to prevent personal injury and maintain a healthy, safe place of work, as far as is reasonably practicable, not only for employees but to all who could be affected by its operations or products.

The Directors will allocate sufficient funds and resources to ensure that this policy can be effectively incorporated into all the Company’s activities, and will encourage all employees to take an active part in the promotion of health and safety at work.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that the Company provides a sound basis, of the highest possible standard, for the heath and welfare of all its employees, and to protect all individuals associated with the Company’s operations, including the general public.

Part of our management policies is to continually assess and bring about an improvement in, and promote an awareness of, job safety through training and the insistence on safe working practises.

Although the initial responsibility for implementation of the policy rests with the respective directors, managers and supervisors, as of necessity and the nature of the Security industry operations, many employees work unsupervised and therefore they are instructed and expected to take care for their own safety and the safety of others by careful observance of the health and safety procedures laid down.

The Managing Director has overall responsibility for health and safety.

Equal Opportunity Policy

Our Equal Opportunity Policy

We are committed to the principle of equal opportunities in employment. We are opposed to any form of less favourable treatment or financial reward through direct or indirect discrimination, harassment, victimisation to employees or job applicants on the grounds of race, religious beliefs, political opinions, creed, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, marital/parental status, sex, sexual orientation or disability and to any form of less favourable treatment on the grounds of handicap or age.

We recognise our legal obligations:

For the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sex, sexual orientation or marital status and for the promotion of equal opportunity in employment.
For the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of religion or beliefs.
For the elimination of racial discrimination.
For the elimination of discrimination in pay between men and women who do the same work, or work of a similar nature or work of equal value.

We will actively promote equal opportunities in our business to ensure that individuals receive treatment that is fair and equitable and consistent with their relevant aptitudes, potential skills and abilities. Employees will be recruited and selected, promoted and trained on the basis of objective criteria.

Any employee who feels that he or she has been treated unfairly or subjected to direct or indirect unfair discrimination can raise the matter through the appropriate grievance procedure when every effort will be made to secure a satisfactory resolution. Any employee making a complaint of unfair discrimination will be protected from any victimisation in any form.

We will not discriminate against anyone who has a spent conviction under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. We would however point out to you that there are requirements in respect of the issue of licenses under the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

Lone Worker Policy

Our Health & Safety Lone Workers Policy

As part of  Allied Security Contracts Health & Safety commitment to our employees, we are aware that there may be times when employees are alone in certain locations. It is important to be aware of the following procedures and requirements:

Induction must be completed by the employee before commencing work on any new or unfamiliar location. This is provided by ourselves or, in certain instances, by the main site contractor.

Log sheets are provided and must be used to record all events and times. This includes booking on/off times and mobile patrol visits.

Telephone calls must be placed to the main control room at booking on time and thereafter as required until booking off time. Check calls form part of the BS7499 requirements and it is vital that every lone employee follows this procedure for their own safety. Failure to call at the required time will result in mobile patrol being dispatched and the possibility of emergency services being informed.

Incident forms must be completed for any security or safety breaches. The control room must also be informed and a mobile patrol may be dispatched. All log and incident sheets are collected and stored by the company.

Employees are reminded that any incident, accident or self injury must be reported to the control room immediately.

It is vital that all lone employees follow these requirements to protect their own safety and welfare.
